Floating Maldives wins "Floating Maldives and Floating Asia Magazine names" case against Information Ministry
09 November 2008
Over the past 8 months, a company by the name of Highrise, has been approaching owners and agents in the Liveaboard industry purporting to be the owners of the magazines Floating Maldives and Floating Asia.
Floating Maldives Private Limited (a company legally registered C-600/2005), who are the legal owners of these names, on finding the above, filed a case against Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts, who had issued unlawful registrations of the above two magazines to the company, Highrise.
After three court hearings and presentations from two parties, the court released a verdict today (9 November 2008) which ordered the defendant, Ministry of Legal Reform, Information and Arts to cancel the illegal registrations they had issued to Highrise, because those registrations were issued unlawfully, when the company, Floating Maldives Pvt. Ltd. had registered these names with the authorities and had been using for their mainstream publications.
